Most yoga retreats in Rishikesh are energising. They build, they progress, they take you somewhere. This one does the opposite — and that’s exactly why we list it.
Burnout recovery requires a fundamentally different intervention than a busy yoga schedule. The nervous system doesn’t recover through more activity, even beautiful activity in the Himalayas. It recovers through sustained stillness, minimal stimulation, and consistent safety signals. This program was designed by a teacher who came to that understanding through her own burnout, and built the retreat she wished had existed.
The daily schedule is lighter than any retreat we list. Two formal practices per day — a morning yin session and an evening yoga nidra — plus 45 minutes of breathwork at dawn. The rest of the day is genuinely yours. There are no optional workshops to fill your time. No excursion schedule. No group activities unless you want them.
The evening reflection circles (optional, always) provide a container for processing. They’re not therapy and aren’t positioned as such. They’re facilitated space for women to be honest about where they are.
Yin yoga works with the connective tissue — fascia, ligaments, and joints — through long-held passive poses (3–7 minutes per posture). This extended stillness activates the parasympathetic nervous system. For women who spend most of their lives in sympathetic (fight-or-flight) activation, even a single yin session produces measurable physiological changes.
Over seven days, with twice-daily practice, the cumulative effect is significant. The two included Ayurvedic abhyanga massages (warm oil full-body massage) complement the yin work directly.
Unlike most retreats at this price point, this program is private rooms only. Shared accommodation was deliberately excluded because women in burnout recovery need genuine solitude and sleep as a non-negotiable baseline.
WiFi is available for two hours per day in a designated space. This is enforced, not optional. This is the detail that most women initially resist and later describe as the most important part of the retreat. It is not negotiable.
We list this for the specific subset of women who know — really know — that what they need is not more input, not more inspiration, not a beautiful challenging yoga week. They need to stop. This is the retreat for that.
Private rooms only, so pricing starts higher than shared-room retreats. From $980/person includes two Ayurvedic massages that would cost $60–80 each separately. Good value for what’s included.
