Why we list it
Ten days is the minimum threshold at which real change happens in a yoga practice. This program was designed with that constraint in mind — structured for women who’ve done the 7-day retreats and want to go further without committing to a teacher training.
The operator has run women-only programs in Rishikesh for over eight years. Their teachers hold 500-hour certifications and the lead teacher trained directly in the Sivananda tradition before spending time studying Kashmir Shaivism philosophy. The program consistently produces some of the strongest reviews we’ve seen from a non-ashram operator in Rishikesh.
The structure
The ten days follow a deliberate arc. Days 1–3 are arrival, orientation, and assessment — you won’t be pushed hard immediately. Days 4–8 are the intensive core: two daily practices, philosophy workshops, an Ayurvedic consultation, and a full evening of yoga nidra. Days 9–10 are integration — lighter practice, longer meditation sits, time for journalling and reflection before departure.
This arc matters. Too many retreat programs treat every day as identical. This one respects the fact that transformation needs progression.
The teaching
Morning sessions are hatha-based — 90 minutes, alignment-focused, with pranayama integrated. The teaching style is clear, anatomically informed, and avoids the kind of spiritual performance that can make Western women uncomfortable in Indian yoga settings. Modifications are offered without judgment.
Evening sessions alternate between yin yoga (long-held, connective tissue work) and yoga nidra. The nidra sessions are guided by a teacher trained specifically in the Richard Miller iRest protocol — one of the most clinically validated approaches to yoga nidra.
Women-only, by design
This program has always been women-only. That decision shapes everything: how teachers communicate, how the group dynamic develops, how much space women have to practice without performance. The group maximum of 14 ensures a genuinely intimate experience.
Our take
This is the retreat we recommend to women who ask what comes after the first yoga week. The 10-day format, the women-only container, and the quality of teaching combine in a way we haven’t found replicated elsewhere at this price point in Rishikesh.
We list it at “verified” — we’ve reviewed the teacher credentials, spoken with the program director, and have verified attendee reviews across multiple cohorts.
